Ken H.
Private tutor in Weirton Heights, WV
Education
Graduated from Seattle University Magna Cum Laude in 2015. Major: Sociology, Minor: Women & Gender Studies. As a part of the SU mission I also underwent the University Core Program which focuses on history, theology, philosophy, logic, writing, and critical thinking. Current PhD student at Kent State University. Expected graduation year is 2020.
Experience
I tutored at Seattle Central Community College while I was a student at Seattle University. My GRE scores are as follows: Verbal - 158, Quantitative - 157, and Analytical -5.5. Percentiles (respectively ordered) 78, 68, 98. I want to be a tutor because as someone who finished high school without much of a chance at going to college, but was able to make it into a PhD program I feel compelled to help others who have similar goals. It IS possible to achieve your academic goals no matter where you are now. When I graduated high school I couldn't even get into college with my GPA. But I finished Seattle University with high honors and departmental honors. Anyone can do it too, and I want to help. I've taken a variety of courses during my time in college, but I'm particularly strong in areas related to sociology, socio-history, gender & sexuality, social-psychology, philosophy, and logic.

Hobbies
I grew up as a skater kid in a suburb outside of Pittsburgh. Skateboarding is still a huge part of my life. I've always been an avid reader and currently I am reading A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn. (A must read). Growing up in PA but going to college in Seattle has exposed me from country living to one of the most liberal cities in the US. Thus, I tend to have a very open mind when it comes to politics, education, morality, religion, culture, and food. I welcome all ideas that are not oppressive and encourage originality and social justice!
